Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Lavender
soft spoken in the dead of night

When the grey mare departed, with the black and white stallion following behind at a distance, following Khyber’s command, Lavender dropped her head to check over the newborn colt, lipping tenderly at the damp spikes of his wispy mane. A few moments later, once she felt sure that no-one (save for Khyber) was there to bear witness, she dropped the mask of strength she’d donned with a heavy sigh.

The palomino swayed a moment, before shifting one hoof - not being able to lift it - to drag through the moist leaf litter, splaying her legs somewhat, and steadying her stance. Her eyes never strayed from the boy, save for when they fluttered closed, but the moment Khyber spoke to her, Lavender turned to blink her eyes in an effort to focus on the Marauder.

Lavender’s soft-hearted nature had her wanting to answer instantly, to reassure, because she didn’t want to be a source of worry - if that’s even what this was. Lavender didn’t have the presence of mind to dwell on that in her current state. Her answer, when it came, was uttered in a thin, breathy voice. "I will be, after I get some rest." Her lips twitched weakly, only managing a faint, fleeting smile. Further reassurance, not for Khyber this time, but for herself.

As exhausted as she was, the pain still ebbing, she had more than just herself to care about now.

Focus returning to the colt, a natural maternal instinct welling up within her, Lavender caressed his little face with a tender kiss of her lips, and twisted one ear towards Khyber. Once again she thought on her words before she spoke, the more direct approach she was originally going to go with - would you like to name him? - uttered far more softly, and somehow asking, not less, exactly, of Khyber, but framed in such a way to offer to include him, should he wish that. "You can name him, if you’d like."

Just before she guided the still-unsteady colt to nurse, the stallion returned, and Laveder turned her weary gaze upon him. "Wait," she allied softly, as he turned to take his leave a second time. "What is your name?" And when he gave it, Lavender dropped her head a little in a not-quite nod. "Thank you, Blizzard," she murmured softly in parting, before turning her attention - now undivided - back to Khyber.

"Please… Would you stay, even if only for a short time? To watch over us." There were spots in the Lagoon, narrow and cramped, where she felt more at ease when she was alone, but even without concerning herself with how difficult it would be helping the tiny buckskin overo boy navigate the terrain, she did not have the energy to venture anywhere at present.

"I can wait, if you wanted to go speak with Blizzard first." Already, she was fighting off drowsiness, and while still succeeding, a flicker of determination in her blue eyes, she trailed her muzzle through the air, pointing in the general direction that the black and white had gone, even though what she really wanted to do was to turn toward Khyber, and tuck herself against the solidness of him, her face pressed into the crook of his neck.
