He could tell her story wouldn't be a happy one by the look on her face. Aside from that, he knew something had happened to Tino's father when the young colt had told him earlier in the morning. He knew Raini might tell him eventually, but he hadn't expected it to be this soon. I guess it did make sense in that this may be their last chance at alone time. Nico stands facing Raini with calm eyes, but his shoulders were tense as she told her story. She has been successful in keeping Tino in the dark as much as possible. He had no intentions on changing that until she was ready to tell him so he nods at her request.

Nico listens to every word. Raini explains the hardships she had endured coming to the islands with Tino. He winces as she mentions her old herd being just like his. How he never bothered anyone else. Her perception of his wasn't all correct. He had bothered others herds and it had caused some issues. It was how he came to know Pyre and Rhoxane. Though he heart acted for what him and Rhoxane could be, he had a good relationship with Pyre. She was even his lead mare now. But what of the stallions he stole from? What about the fact that he may have been the reason Rhodius did not know his own father?

Looking at Tino now he couldn't imagine the pain he has caused in his own actions. His eyes travel back to Raini as she continues to tell her story. The further she got the more he wants to reach out to her. He waits until her voice falls silent before stepping closer. "Sounds like Tino's father was a good stallion," He says softly. "I only hope I can be as brave and be such a role model for your son." He reaches out to softly lip at her cheek. "It is terrible what you both have gone through. I hope the Inlet can one day be your sanctuary." He vowed then to protect her for as long as she wanted it.
