The girl stared at her father with wide, shocked eyes, drinking in every detail of him as if it were the first time she was seeing him all over again. A shy smile crept onto her lips and she nodded in answer to his first question, giggling softly.
"I love it here," she answered, her tone honest. The only other place she had seen was a very brief view of the Commons, but beyond that Paradise had been her birthplace and nursery. As he confessed to growing up on Atlantis she brightened again, fuzzy ears thrusting forward as she peered at him with renewed interest.
"You did? That's so cool! So did 'Nubis! All of us did 'cept momma," she explained eagerly, not at all aware of why the mention of the silver stallion might bring tension. Hymn, however, frowned as he was mentioned again, her gaze darting from her daughter back to Sigurdr, uncertain as to how he would take it. Annubis had stepped up since they had arrived and his playfulness had helped the girl warm to him significantly. In many ways, he had become the father to Promise that Hymn had believed that Sigurdr would be.
The monochrome stallion went on to suggest that he could stay a while to show them his favorite spots and her chest tightened, heart hammering against her ribcage. She wanted nothing to do with him staying and everything to do with it all at the same time. For so many seasons she had imagined herself in love with this stallion, despite his fleeting presence in her life, and those feelings were hard to shake, even with the current circumstances. There was also the knowledge that in encouraging him to stay, in accepting his offer, that she would somehow destroy whatever it was that was budding between her and Annubis.
In the end, she didn't have to answer, though the mare's gaze never left Sigurdr's. From between them, from their daughter, came the eager reply:
"Of course!"
Hymn swallowed hard, but could not find it in herself to rob her daughter of these precious moments with her sire when she wasn't certain when, or if, the girl would ever have a chance to see her again.
"As long as we're careful..." and quiet, she thought, her anxiety spiking.
Promise, having decided that Sigurdr was safe by the fact that her mom was agreeing, bounded closer to him, her cream-frosted tail flagged up high as she pranced.
"Where d'you want to go first? Have you seen the waterfall? It's my favorite!"
