We've learned from a CPD source with contacts at FOP7 that officials with the FOP and Local2 dined together last Thursday evening.
We won't reveal too many details; however, it is our understanding Pat Cleary never discussed his intent to form a bloc with the CTU with FOP officials.
It strikes us as odd Cleary chose not to reveal his intent to John Catanzara.
We'd like to remind Mr. Cleary it was the FOP which handed over $50K to Local2 in 2024 for the purpose of holding a rally to protest Chicago failing to come to terms with both the FOP and Local2 on contracts with police and firefighters.
We understand memory fades with age, but we find it difficult to understand how Mr. Cleary could have possibly forgotten the generosity the FOP demonstrated with Local2.
Apparently, ingratitude is among Mr. Cleary's shortcomings.
As we mentioned in a previous post, the danger here is whether Pat Cleary has revealed the substance of any conversation or electronic communication he has held with FOP officials with the radicals at the CORE caucus.
We would also urge Mr. Catanzara to make a statement on this development. We understand the deep sense of betrayal FOP officials have experienced, yet FOP membership and the general public has a preference for Catanzara's opinion. Replies:
