Blood in the water Posted on March 27, 2025 at 05:36:03 PM by Remi & Addison
The mares followed Riddler into the water and towards the Inlet that he had called home. Remi keeping her pace slower than a horse normally would so that Addison could keep up. She could feel Addison beginning to struggle as they reached the shoreline.
The bay mare’s wound was screaming as she struggled to swim across, not being able to see the shoreline she wasn’t ready for the feeling of solid ground under her hooves, her leg collapsing under her as she nose dived into the shallow water. Shit! Remi swore as she spun to try and help the disabled mare.
As Addison bring her head up, coughing out a mouthful of sea water and sand she attempts to get back onto her feet, with her clawed shoulder feeling on fire all she could effectively manage was to crawl out of the water before giving up with the effort of standing, as she laying awkwardly on the beach, her sides heaving.
When Remi start flitting about, trying to help she groans before shhing the mare gentle just give me a minute to get my breath back.
She’s glad when the younger mare settles, she knew she was only trying to help but she really did need a minute. She suspected she’s reopened the two vertical wounds on her shoulder if the pain was anything to go by, she hadn’t really had a chance to allow them to heal yet, they hadn’t had the safety or the ability to spend any time in one place. Hopefully that would now change with moving to the Inlet with Riddler.
It took several more minutes for the mare’s breathing to slow down to normal speed. As she tried to stand though it took her several attempts as she tried to keep as much weight off her right forelimb as she could. Equally she could feel the nervous energy coming off Remi, who clearly wanted to help but didn’t know how, in truth it wasn’t really something she could help with.
Remi didn’t have a clue how to help Addison and the only way she could think of would probably cause her more pain, so all she could do was watch anxiously as the struggled to stand. She frown as she noticed the wound had started to bleed again, it was only a small trickle but it still worried her.
As Addison finally got to her feet, legs shaking slightly, she went to shake her head and nearly lost her balance all over again.
Addison would have been back on the ground if Remi hadn’t placed herself against the mare to brace one side of her. As the bay mare dropped her head on a groan Remi looked to Riddler Is their somewhere Addison can rest, that’s safe she asked quietly, focusing more on that last word.
