The grey colt deflated slightly, sorrow filled eyes glancing at Nico. He knew he could trust Nico but he still wanted to help. He was a mixture of angry and upset, angry than some other stallion had dared to force his mother to leave him and Nico and their new home.
He nodded slowly in sad acceptance to Nico’s wish to stay here. He might have been tempted to follow behind them, but he didn’t know where they were going or were his mother was and Nico couldn’t save his mother if he was having to go back to rescue him from the water.
Promise you'll bring her home he said quietly, he didn’t need to hear the words really, he trusted Nico would get her back home.
He would normally have been ecstatic at Nico being his father figure, he’d never met his own, or at least not that he could remember so had very little idea on what a father was or did. But so consumed by his feelings of loss and anger he didn’t really react. Truth was he did trust Nico.
Realising that Nico was waiting for him to give him verbal confirmation he again nodded when asked to put his trust in Nico to bring his mother but this time added a timid ok, I’ll stay here.
