Sorry to hear of this, Bob. I don't suppose you have responded to a My Gov email asking you to change your details? There have been convincing My Gov scam emails sent to account holders asking for an update of personal details. These emails accurately resemble My Gov and can be easily interpreted as coming from My Gov, but aren't. Responding to these emails will result in having your account compromised. If My Gov has been hacked, which is probably unlikely, then the hackers will have the account details of many others.
I recently received a convincing email from Telstra with a 'noreply@telstra.com.au' email address asking to update my account. "Click on the link to update your details" it said. I phoned Telstra to verify the email and was told it's a scam. Replies:
