Eriana’s ears tip forward when he first makes a noise, but her eyes widen and her heart gives a fearful leap in her chest when his head threatens to drop forward. “Alioth.” She says a bit more firmly, her voice not quite as gentle. Reaching over to him, Eriana gives his shoulder a nip, hoping it would do better at bringing him to consciousness. “You need to get up.” Else her fear might actually come true, and the winter would take him all too soon.
And it would be solely her fault.
Stretching out her front legs, Eriana tries to shove herself up with her hind. Twice she fails, only getting halfway up before they would give and she would sink back down. But her fear of him freezing to death out weighed her fear of falling on him, just as it would weigh any chance of giving up. So, on the third try, Eriana finally manages to stay standing despite how her legs very obviously quiver beneath her.
“Alioth…” she says again, lipping at his forelock and brushing her muzzle along his face as she continued to try to rouse him now that she could reach him better. “Please…. You can’t freeze to death.”
