Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

The rainforest was teeming with sounds of various birds as the afternoon progress. Showy trills and soothing coos filled every aural inch of the nearby landscape. Though the display was delightfully pretty distraction, it did not do much to distract the black tovero mare as she stalked along a forest path. The dipping temperature --the only sign of winter thus far-- had reminded her of the time that was passing her by.

She'd been kept against her will in the Lagoon for well over two years now. In that time, she'd been ogled, harassed, and then promptly ignored in a land swarming with nincompoops and bastards. The moments the mare was left to her own devices were spent watching for an opening to make an escape with her daughter.

Saphris --her blue-toned sabino filly-- would be two come spring, and Emerson would sooner drop dead than let a Lagoon brother lay any further claim on her. The filly had been protected by her age, but the tovero feared the stallions that kept her shackled would sink their claws into Saphris as soon as they were allowed to. One way or another, the Mustang had vowed to get her daughter out of the Lagoon.

Dark ears twitched, suddenly noticing the bird calls had largely quit their cacophonic song. Her movement ceased immediately, ears twisting to flatten against the black and white skin of her poll. Blue eyes scan the surrounding wood and the path forward, finding nothing. The span of skin along the mare's black flanks twitches at one fly, then another as she remains motionless. Something or someone was lurking in this part of the tropical territory.

"If you have any wits about you," she hissed, voice low with warning, "you will leave me be." However, Emerson knows that this is the Lagoon. What bullish male here would acquiesce to the wishes of a lone mare?

Emerson
