Interesting stuff. But will it be able to tell how much Eye of the Tiger the player has in that game? For instance, could it tell that they are pissed off at their girlfriend and are taking it out on their opponent? Could they tell that the player's best friend just died and they are completely distracted? Could it tell that the player is out for vengeance from the last loss?
I don't think a human would know the reasons either but I bet an observant human could pick up faster on the overall, current psychological state of the player compared to today's AI. Most humans have intuitive discernment about the emotional state of other people because we are social animals.
In the future? Who knows. Psychology is not a hard science. It is basically Voodoo with thousands of contested correlations, as well as the occasional, largely unsupported, new "School of Thought" popping up whenever a professor breaks with their mentor.
Biopsychology and neuroscience are still in their infancy. In short, humans do not know objectively how the human mind works or what consciousnesses is and how it works on a molecular level.
Thinking about it a little more, I can see a case for the AI not needing to know the player's current inner drive level. Maybe it just needs data on current performance vs. average performance via success/failure rates.
But that would take a number of points to analyze. This is true of humans as well. Add instant biometric data and blazingly fast statistical computational power and that might be enough for the AI to predict better than a human.
Haha. I guess that was your original point and I just came full circle! Darnit. =p
