Obviously, the idea of Canada as the 51st state is ridiculous on its face...

Halifax, NS and Dawson City, YT, are 5,000 miles apart!

The population of Canada is similar to the population of California. Assigning 2 senate seats to 40 million Canadians would only exaggerate the existing small-state bias in the legislature and the electoral college.

This would be a feature, not a bug. to republicans, of course. They're not too big on representative democracy these days.

The only thing that would remotely make sense (in this absurd thought exercise) would be for the current provinces to become states. Of course, Trump would never push for that, because (among other reasons) Canada's population is even more concentrated in urban areas that the US's.

And doesn't even touch on all the reasons Canadians would be nuts to want to become part of the US.
