You all notice the hardcore fire breathing smoke eating balls to the walls Irish clan generational firefighters are alllllll gone now. The guys who studied hard on their days off took pride in drilling and learning the guys who bled CFD are gone. The Orozco, Hoff, Chik types they’re long gone. This is an EMS dept now it’s all EMS even on drills we are constantly pulled mid drill for some “down for the unknown” or a “psych”. How can we drill and learn and master our craft when all we do is EMS now? Back then when a LODD was once every 10yrs it was a fire dept. Serious no nonsense guys we had role models to emulate. Now? It’s EMS. That’s all it is. EMS. Fires are less and less as time goes on not to mention the clan family tradition types don’t exist anymore. Add in DEI and promotions not based on skill and knowledge this is what we get. Replies:
