Watch and Wager will take bets on the Derby up until the race goes off. The problem that arises when betting the Derby is that so many people are trying to bet that the computers handling the bets can get overloaded. You can thus get shut out from betting due to computer error. Best to bet earlier.
The #17 post has never won the Derby, that is true.
