Rain In Summer Storm Clouds Posted on May 5, 2025 at 04:56:12 PM by Raini
Raini listened to Nico’s words carefully. She smiled when he spoke of this land being in his family for generations, it would mean their foal would be surrounded by their ancestors. She was also glad that they would be born here, surrounded by the family she had stumbled into, who had accepted not only her but also Tino, a colt not belonging to Nico’s bloodline, at least not in a physical manner, Nico had spoken of wanting to treat the boy as his own, something Raini would forever be thankful for.
As he continued she sensed the words holding a darker meaning and then he explained about Lucine and their son Ganon’s disappearance and him subsequently finding them, but not before the wolves had. Her heart ached for him and what he had been through, it was no surprise now why he had understood the pain of her past.
Stepping forward she gently nuzzled against him. We will teach our child and Tino of the dangers in the world, because the world is full of them, we can never take away the dangers but we can and we will give them the skills to protect themselves and those they love she said, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that it wasn’t an empty promise, from either of them.
I’m sorry you lost not only the mare you loved, but your child as well. No parent should ever know the grief of mourning their child she said gently, she couldn’t imagine how she’d of survived if she had lost Tino before they got to here, in truth she probably would have given up since he was the only thing she had kept going for, at least until coming here.
Her ears pricked then as she heard hooves striking the ground, turning to head, she smiled having expecting it to be Tino, who apparently had had another growth spurt in her absence, but who still looked like the clumsy foal she knew.
This part was confirmed as he got closer, but hadn’t slowed down, normally this wouldn’t have concerned Raini, even with him being as big as her now, but with the child who wasn’t far from entering this world growing in her belly, she couldn’t afford to let him crash into her.
And he still hasn’t remembered about stopping distance she said quickly as she ducked behind Nico. Had their been time she would have asked, or at least explained why she was using Nico as a shield from her son, but not wanting to risk injury to their foal and with Nico most likely realising the reasons for her action she didn’t comment further, except to shout to Tino to slow down.
And so it was by some miracle that the greying colt had managed to almost come to a sliding stop in front of Nico, bumping into him without much force as he practically bounced off the older stallion.
Regaining his footing, he gave Nico a sheepish half smile as apology before moving to his mother who had already moved back into view as the pair greeted each other before Raini dropped her head over her sons neck, something that wasn’t necessarily easy with his gained height but she didn’t care, she was home, she had her boy back and she was back with Nico. Home, where she belonged.
