Something distinctly male within the silver grullo had been stirred by this young vision of a mare. It was further enticed by the coquettish fluttering of her eyelashes. Lazily, the thought of those long dark lashes brushing against his skin whispered through the stallion's mind. Some time had passed since last Canis had played this game that she seemed willing to play, but every word from her mouth drew him in, encouraged him to play as the silvered amber cream maiden hazarded a step closer.
Ears --one grullo gray, the other white-- pricked further toward the female as she asked of his relation to the herd in the Inlet. She bemoaned the connection perceived between herself and most of the residents on their island with a roll of her eyes. The smile that curved his pale lips a tad impishly revealed a fraction of the pleasure and satisfaction the male felt at being able to deny any blood connection between them. "I am not. . . that I know of."
The last four words have the underlying tone of a challenge or, rather, an invitation. What might she do now when presented with an eligible male? "Does this ease your burden, my lady," Canis asked, tenor tones amused and inviting.
