Re(5): EMS week

Unlike many FSR company officers, who often just supervise the daily cleaning of the firehouse if that even happens, EMS officers, for all their flaws, usually carry more responsibility when managing complex incidents. On most days when the department is actively running calls, EMS officers handle far more moving parts than their fire side counterparts.

Honestly, we could shut down 25 to 50 percent of the fire companies and the public would barely notice. The only ones affected would be the people stuck waiting for someone to carry them upstairs. But by all means, keep telling everyone how essential you are.

Even when fire officers are in command at a scene, there always seems to be a firefighter headed to the hospital by the time it's over.

Bravo!
