Anytime you find yourself needing to protect the reputation of the game, remember this....
...the story has nothing at all to do with jai-alai.
Miami Jai-Alai was, simply, a large cash-based (HUGE CASH) business with very poor internal controls - perfectly ripe for skimming and mob infiltration. And, that's exactly what happened. It could just as easily been a used car dealer or a fast food restaurant chain, but that wouldn't have been worth it for the mob. Repeat ... nothing to do with jai-alai, per se.

So, if your friends try to connect jai-alai with the mob, be sure to set them straight.
