who can you trust when everything you touch turns to gold Posted on May 30, 2025 at 03:28:53 AM by Mhidas

Reticently, the colt's eyes turned away from the spot where he'd been playing and shifted back to his dam. The boy could feel a sort of.. shift in the pale mare as her head lifted and then turned away, as even as she was nodding to his question. Mhidas couldn't tell if she was upset with him or with his question based on her body language, though his blue eyes lingered on her while his mother spoke.
"I think he is fine. He has his big brother Thranduil watching over him." Mhidas had been so young when she'd told him Warg and Thranduil both were his brothers. She'd said it so casually, as if the relation was as inconsequential as the sky being blue. It hadn't seemed important then, but now? His burnished ears twisted into a tentative splay, gaze dropping to the sand almost guiltily. He knew better than to ask aloud if they were maybe watching over him, too.
The golden youngster chewed once absent-mindedly on his lower lip for a few moments before nodding back at his mother quietly. It wasn't that he wanted to go back where they were-- the Lagoon. It was more the ease and fun of exploring a land as wild as it was full of new secret places and creatures. The mounting tension between his brothers here in the Dunes didn't really help deter the paint from idealizing that time in the tropics.
"You're probably right," the boy acquiesced, hoping that-- just maybe-- he was missed.
