Good Morning Chalkies,

Greetings from fabulous western New York (WNY) !

The weather looks like it is finally breaking towards summer and supposed to be close to 90 F today.

With Benny and his boys off in the Basque country I am left tending the home fires and am just getting started on the Belmont Stakes.

Eight (8) horses in the field which is a pretty good size and should make for an exciting race.

No surprise that Journalism and Sovereignty are the favorites and a favorite has won the Belmont 43 % of the time.

The location has changed to Saratoga "The Spa" but the track also has another nickname as "The Graveyard of Favorites" with a stretch length of almost 1/4 of mile so Rodriguez and Beaza may be the better bets.

The change in distance from 1-1/2 miles to 1-1/4 miles is a big factor as well as the weather at the track on Saturday looks iffy and it could be an off track.
