This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. fighting on home ground; Two famous Battles highlight
where modern Generals thought the indigenous peoples, were very, inferior .
How wrong they were
The little Bighorn/Isandlwana;
Key Similarities
Underestimation of Indigenous Forces – Both battles saw Western military leaders underestimate their opponents. Custer misjudged the size and coordination of the Lakota and Cheyenne warriors, while the British at Isandlwana failed to anticipate the sheer scale and tactical discipline of the Zulu army.

Divided Forces – Custer split his command into multiple detachments, weakening his ability to respond to the overwhelming Native forces. Similarly, Lord Chelmsford divided his British forces, leaving the camp at Isandlwana vulnerable to the Zulu attack.

Superior Indigenous Tactics – The Lakota and Cheyenne used mobility, terrain, and encirclement to overwhelm Custer’s forces. The Zulu army, employing their famous "horns of the buffalo" formation, surrounded and annihilated the British troops.

Western Weaponry vs. Indigenous Strategy – Both battles showcased how disciplined indigenous forces could overcome superior firepower. The U.S. cavalry had repeating rifles, but they were overwhelmed by sheer numbers. The British had Martini-Henry rifles, but logistical failures and ammunition shortages hindered their effectiveness.
Symbolic Defeats – Both battles became legendary defeats for Western forces, shaking military confidence and prompting harsh retaliatory campaigns. Little Bighorn led to intensified U.S. military action against the Plains tribes, while Isandlwana resulted in a brutal British counteroffensive against the Zulu Kingdom.
