GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

The mare at his side opened up to him easily as they roamed together. Lir's hazel eyes seemed to sweep the landscape contemplatively as she spoke. She wasn't from the islands, just as he wasn't, but had been drawn in all the same. The painted stallion guided them deeper into the land as he made his answer. "I was born in lands far from the islands." Places so far from the island chain that Lir knew he likely would never try to go back.

"My mother and I got here the autumn before I turned two." He ignored the deep memories of the arduous journey, their icy tendrils illuminating the harshness off that first winter when Zevulun first found them. "We were very lucky when Zevulun took us in." The old thoughts sprang upward, long passed over, questioning if the cream male would have still taken them in if he'd known what would happen.

Lir had thought he'd left these questions back in his youth, back when he'd been plagued more intently by feelings of unworthiness and being "other" for not having been born there. With a soft snort, the stallion refocused on the times and the company at hand. He offered her a gentle smile before saying, "It stills surprises me-- all the little things in this place that I'm still learning about after all these years. Like the different kinds of birds that live in this field, for example." As if on cue, delightfully blue birds swirled and flittered, chittering as they soared passed.
