Soft hues of gold and pink light up the barren landscape of the dunes. Birds chirp and swirl up above, their bodies showing as little specks against the dawn lightened sky. It was a peaceful morning, one that had Lucifer looking out over the territory with his ears perked in the direction of his newest son. He could hear the obsidian colt, his little hooves stomping through the sand some distance out. It had the onyx beast relaxing, but relaxation only lasted so long.


Hooves, they sounded behind him. One ear twitched to listen, the other staying locked on the son that was moving even farther away with his mother. It was a lot to take in, but Lucifer's mind switched from at ease to prepared in just a few heartbeats. His thick neck slowly turned as the one behind him came closer. His crimson hued eyes locked upon the Arabian bred mare and as quickly as most would grow eyes full of hearts, a deadness filled his own as a sigh escaped his muzzle.


Turning his frame to fully face the mare, Lucifer took her in slowly. There was no sign to anything catching his attention about her frame. This monster of a stallion kept it internal, holding his thoughts inside as her words hit his ears. Tilting his head ever so slowly, Lucifer let his crimson eyes meet her own before a puff of air escaped his lungs. “Seems you're one to listen to rumors instead of speak.” His voice rumbled slowly before he shifted his stance.


“What is it you want?” The question slipped through his teeth, dead eyes and boredom lining his facial features. He had a herd to go check on before making another dash to the commons in due time. He was behaving for now, something that wasn't exactly easy for the brute to accomplish. Licking his dark lips, he gave her the equivalent to an eyebrow raise as he waited for her response.
