I put up a post near my big window that looks out into the yard, on top of the post I put a "squirrel picnic table". They tend to like to eat elevated, plus when they want a peanut they will sit on the table and stare in the window till I notice them. I then go out and throw them a peanut.
Well, it turns out cardinals love peanuts, I had no idea. A male fire engine red Cardinal saw the squirrels getting peanuts and started flying over and sitting on the table and chirping at my window. I then go out and throw out a handful of canned small peanuts and he & the wife get one and fly off happy.
Let me tell you when a cardinal chirps it's pretty loud, especially right in your window!
