Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

The Peak General is not the only one angry with the Minister.

In the months since Khar’pern packed Solas off like an unwanted toy, Ryvar has done her best to avoid speaking to her mother more than necessary. Accusation cuts sharply from her dark eyes as she follows the rose-colored mare’s lithe form with suspicious eyes. Having grown up in the Peak, Ryvar felt no love for the male gender. Zero. None. At all. It was the Lagoon stallions… her very own father (which only made things worse in her book) who had stolen her mother away in the first place and robbed her of months meant to nurture and continue the budding bond between them. That is, until Khar’pern returned and promptly brought Khyber back with her. As a captive, yes, but even as young as she was, Ryvar did not miss the tension that hung between them. She did not miss the way mother seemed to awaken at the fresh scent of Lagoon stallions patrolling close to their borders. Once. Twice. Three times now, it is Khyber who has fathered children Khar’pern claimed to her as necessary for the sake of continuing the Peak. Did she really imagine her daughter so naive that she would not recognize the fascination for what it was?

”Apparently so…” she growls to herself as her auburn eyes catch sight of Khar once more lingering nearer to the lower meadows. Raven-tipped ears disappear beneath the wind-swept tangles of her dark mane as Ryvar releases a pointed sigh of exasperation. Dark eyes roll dramatically before she turns away from her perch above the lower meadows and meanders further up the hillocks and rock-strewn mountainside. Here and there, the chocolate-hued mare dips her finely dished muzzle to tug free a few mouthfuls of grass still untouched by the crisp autumn air. Despite her lack of appetite, it would not be long before the heavy winter snows burned away all but the husks of growth, and even she would find herself with the rest of the mares closer to the base of the mountains in search of nourishment.

Chipped hooves find purchase among the loose shale as Ryvar climbs higher and higher still, letting her roaming gaze travel to the distant lands visible from the higher elevation. It was her favorite part of living here. Seeing the world as the eagles. Catching the glittering of sunlight as it reflects off distant rivers and lakes in the evenings and listening to the winds as they speak their volumes between the sheer rockface. The sight of it did much to soothe her frustrations and put the idea of her mother and father sneaking around on the back burner…. At least for now.
