Though she had gone into the surf bidding-ly enough (furious scowl excluded), each stroke toward the desert island stoked her fury. By the time her striped hooves found purchase on the sloping beach, steam might as well have been rising from her head. Having never been the sort of girl to maintain a level head at the best of times, Tony saw no reason to hold back now.

She didn't have a grand hope of winning - she'd seen the ferocity with which her father fought - but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try. They were, after all, still in the water and Nyimara was - presumably - still tired from her battle with Asmodeus. The spotted girl gathered her footing beneath her and then pivoted toward the elegant silver mare, swishing through the belly-deep water with her jaws agape and teeth gnashing for whatever bit of her smug expression she could reach. A scream whistled from deep inside her chest, full of rage and anger and even fear, though Tony refused to acknowledge that.

She wasn't afraid. Couldn't be. Nyimara just needed to pay for ruining all of Tony's grand plans for going back to the Peak. And for putting her in the middle of her gross dad's even grosser feud with a mare that wasn't her mom.
