Helios couldn't remember the last time he'd truly seen a grassland such as this one. There might have been places like this in the land off his birth, but the stallion was truly amazed by the sheer amount of verdant brilliancy there was to be found. The colors of the leaves in the trees mesmerized him with all their shifting, deteriorating hues. It was his first time seeing such things after nearly five whole years of never leaving Salem.
The copper male was still gleaming under the full sun. Its light upon his saturated coat turned him into a magnificent burnished bronze as the Arabian strode deeper into the Commons. As he walked, he noted that everything he saw was a new wonder to the male after so long in the arid reaches of Salem. There was so much he'd missed out on all these years!
Oaks, pines, elm: their various leaves spread wide in the canopy of the trees he strode beneath. The worn path opened up beyond the trees into a wider meadow. At the edge of the field, the stallion stopped to soak in the sight of the land that stretched before him. That was when he noticed her, a lone blue roan mare. She had just gone beneath the arms of a tree that had already bared itself for the coming winter months.
His brow crinkled as Helios scanned the landscape around them. Yes, she did seem alone to him. Did she want to keep it that way? Or, the more likely guess, the painted female had come to the Commons as a way to find somewhere else to go. Intrigued, the copper male walked in her direction. He would join her as she went, if the sabino let him.
His pace was even, natural. It had taken time to heal from his battle with Lucifer. Months of healing had finally paid off with (mostly) fluid gate, no longer limping or favoring either of his hindlegs. In truth, he hadn't expected for the battle to have such long-standing consequences. The sharp pain that had plagued the movement of his hindend, even his tail, had taken great strength to see through. It had greatly humbled the Arabian.
With a well-weaning smile, Helios approached her. His creamy tail swished once across his hocks, still a measured and careful movement, as he neared. The male gave her a wide berth. He never liked to force his presence on anyone save perhaps his enemies. Helios dipped his head in a polite greeting. The white-cream strands of forelock swayed some into his vision with the action. She was beautiful, even more so up close. Who would ever be so stupid as to let her get away?
"Good day, lady," the copper stallion said genially.
"Would you care for some company?"
