His son had not been a newborn when he died. Still, this is who he sees dead on that ground by Mizuki. He stands in shock to where he barely hears her say his name. It was like muffled background noise until Ashitaka shows up. At first he doesn't notice him, but as soon as he heard the scuffle he came to. Nico shakes his head roughly before adjusting his eyes to the pair. His eyes meet with Ashitaka's to see the mixture of shock and emotion on his face. He then spies a similar look from Mizuki.

It was obviously a lot of handle for her, for anyone, so he steps slowly closer just to press his muzzle against Ashitaka. "She needs her space to grieve." He says as his muzzle pulls away. He looks over to Mizuki with sadness in his eyes. "I am very sorry for your loss." He then bows his head to her. She may not understand what he said, but hopefully she would understand the gesture. He then steps backwards to give them back their space.

"Please tell her that for me." He turns to her brother now. "I do have something to ask you. Why dont we give your sister some space and go talk over there for a minute?" He tosses his head to the side back towards the trees. This may not be the perfect time to offer the pony stallion a position, but it was a good distraction. Give Mizuki some time alone with her child before it was time to move on.
