"Where has that boy got to?" Clio stirred where she was basking in the sun, pale skin prickling as the salt dried. She had made the crossing from Salem with Terpsichore at her side and Telperion cutting a path through the waves ahead of them, following in Carthage's wake. The white mare remained just within the treeline with her and Carthage's youngest, but no doubt their son had wandered off to keep his father company, or else had gone off exploring.
"Stay to the beach, little dancer, but if you venture into the trees, follow your father's scent trail. The jungles of Atlantis are beautiful, but they hold many hidden dangers." The young mare hummed in response, murmured a soft 'yes mama' in that dreamy oice that left Clio often wandering if Terpsichore had actually listened to what she said. But the appearance of a tall, dark figure approaching from a little further along the beach drew the mare toward him.
"You've done well, Carthage," Clio purred, not because her stallion needed her expression of approval, but because she wanted it said aloud between them, how pleased she was to be back on Atlantis. Even then, it was clear in every graceful curve of her pearly white body that she was back in her element. No more scorching heat. No more dry, dusty air dulling her coat and leaving her parched. Just the moist, vibrant jungle of the Ridge, with the jagged mountain further inland.
Sidling up to the black stallion, Clio lipped at his mane, taking a moment to work a wayward lead out of a knotted strand. "How about you show me around our new home, hmm?" she murmured, lifting her muzzle to nuzzle at the line of his jaw.
