GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

Lir observed the other male quietly while he spoke. He gauged that the silver bay was around his age, perhaps a few years older. The vast assortment of healed and healing wounds proved that, thus far, his life had been a rather rough one. Whether that had been the stranger's own doing or chance misfortunes the Prairie lead could not determine. Time could certainly help in that regard, if the bay really was willing to stay without an immediate reward.

Sable ears flicked once when the paint made his decision, and hen the nodded. "You are welcome to stay while your injuries recover." This much the overo splash was willing to allow for now. If the bay got on well with the herd (and more importantly with himself) in that time, then they could discuss the matter of his staying long-term further. "Once you've recovered, we can see how you do with the herd and some patrols."

Part of the problem was that the land still didn't quite feel as though it were his. It had been well over a year since his family had left these shores, and, deep down, Lir felt like a placeholder, a sentinel to guard the Prairie until its true rulers returned. Life on the islands had not paused in the absence of Zevulun. The sooner the sable lead quit trying to wait on his return.. the better.
