Generally speaking, Lucifer would have gone the long way around. He could take the water and handle it, even if it added a lot more time to his movements. Being on the opposite side of Salem where he had the desert in the direct line towards the commons, he didn't entirely wish to always go through it. Let alone he had no use for the Lagoon and would have rather not walk through the bog. However, he had indeed chosen the path to keep Teagan out of the ocean for as much of the journey as possible, which made him choose an even more dangerous path.
Hearing her question, he flicked one ear in her direction before letting out a breath. “Usually I would have swam the long way around. I have no need to walk through the Lagoon or the Desert.” Turning to face her then, the demon kind shrugged his shoulders. “However, the swim after finding you as I had would not have been… preferable no?” Licking his black lips, Lucifer turned away again and began walking.
“This is indeed the Dunes. I've been king for a bit here and have a small herd of my own.” Flicking one ear back, he listened to her but kept walking. “You'll meet a few of them and two of my children.” Humming at that, Lucifer kept the smile from his lips. He did care for the children, but one could never say if it was love or something else. He had never liked children before really, but then again he had stolen Tefnut from the Peak. It was funny to him still, but his Nahawi bred daughter had no clue she was stolen in such a form.
Humming a breath, Lucifer led Teagan a bit farther before stopping at one of the oasis's. His large hooves softly sunk in the damp sand before he lowered his head and took a drink from the water. Lifting his head with some droplets splattering on the ground, Lucifer looked at Teagan. “All I ask is that you don't roam around and get lost. This territory is vast and I won't always be able to hear or scent you if trouble arises.”
