CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. I take your point, but the LF Message Board is not the be all and end all of everything. The point made by Vince, which seems to have been overlooked, appears to be that he believes that many former LF's are apparently NOT aware of the existence of the LF Web Site or the message board, and thus they and we are in some way losing out by their lack of contribution. I think that is a false assumption. I'm sure that you too can rattle off numerous names of individuals who are active within various local branches, who have NEVER made a contribution to the LF Web Site in any way whatsoever in the past 25 years. Again, these very same people are often active on social media groups, particularly on Facebook, Twitter and such. This is clearly a matter of personal choice and preference. Their are still a number of active branches whose members I can assure you are certainly well aware of the LF Web Site. If it is their choice and preference to interact via social media, so be it.
In respect of taking an "updated, modern approach ", we have been down this road previously, yes? How, precisely, would that work?
If individuals wish to interact via Facebook etc. so be it . How does that actually detract from the LF Web Site and do harm? I'm sure you will be aware of the introduction some time back of Fusilier Connect, an online meeting place for all Fusiliers. Pushed by the Tower and receiving substantial financial support, it would appear to have been far from successful. How would we do better?
We had a long and very difficult challenge to retain the LF Web Site in its entirety following the death of Dennis Laverick. I'm sure you have noted that the main Web Site and the thousands of pages of information are still intact and readily available on line. Nothing has been lost. Mmm....I wonder how that came about?
Should anyone wish to take over the reins in the belief they can do better, please submit a S.A.E as soon as possible.
Then again, if they don't know about the Web Site, I'll probably get few applications.
