The sun crested the horizon, the rays of light shooting daggers into the sky as the moon sank behind her, the pale globe gone as the ball of all encompassing light rose. The sound of the water splashing against the rocks drew most of her attention away from the sunrise. Duo hued eyes squinted, her head moving to duck into the shadows. The harsh reality of having a singular blue eye meant the bright light of the sun rising hurt if she didn’t move into the shade. Shaking her head as she moved underneath the canopy of the trees. The waterfall before her was something she hadn’t experienced before in her life. Water falling off rocks, onto more rocks? What in the world was this? She tipped her head to the side as she watched the water fall. It was strange. A snort bubbled up before she could stop it. This was preposterous.
Branches dragged along her back as she ducked into the trees more, heading deeper into them and away from the waterfalling. Where it was leading her. She had no idea. All she knew was that she was getting away from the edge of the island and heading inward. Away from the waterfall, and south…she thinks. Where was she going? She hadn’t the faintest idea honestly.
The sun was higher in the sky by the time she made it to the open field, it looked a little barren to her, but then again, Xalia wasn’t really searching for anyone in particular. She wasn’t a social butterfly, nor was she an outcast. She just preferred silence over speaking. Grandmother had admonished her about it, telling her that she was going to make everyone think she was cold and aloof that way. But alas, that lesson did not stick. Her head lowered as she grazed, cold eyes calculating as she watched the world around her waft by. It wasn’t a bad day. The weather was mild and she didn’t quite know what to make of it. The sun was out, but there was a chill in the air that made her skin twitch.
Where was she?
