The aggressor had never worked a day in his life prior to CFD. It’s not just a generation problem, it’s a maturity problem. How many people do you know whose life can be summarized as: grew up, graduated from high school, no involvement in any activities/sports, then hired on CFD. No life experience, and definitely no previous job experience. Then these guys struggle through the academy, and it becomes more worse in the firehouse. So you have to not only teach these guys how to be a firefighter, but teach them how to be an adult.
It’s a problem that is not solvable. And if you’re going to tell me that this is something present in today’s job, then you’re lying to yourself. Look around the different fire houses. These types are all around
I’ve heard the same information everyone else has about this. And it does seem like both sides have their problems. As a candidate, especially one that’s not long out of the academy, you need to shut your mouth and regardless of how strange the more senior guy is. You show respect because you haven’t earned a right to do anything else. That in itself is a display of immaturity too. Replies:
