Congrats to Nicolas on his singles Victory over Goixerri! Posted on September 27, 2025 at 01:19:55 PM by jatna77
It is great to see Nicolas step up his offensive game in singles. An amazing backcourt player, Nicolas has always been quite good at catching, rebotes and court positioning.
While he has shots, he never seemed fully confident in using them or perhaps there was some other reason. But not Friday night. He threw his shots as soon as he could and he threw them with accuracy. No hesitation. No lack of confidence. No mercy.
"Those who dare, win."
"Fortune favors the brave." Well usually anyway, lol.
Playing catch with Goixerri, as Nicolas has done in the past, is a losing proposition. But Nicolas executed a different strategy this time.
Spinner used to say: "Pass and Kill. Pass and Kill."
1) Pass to get your opponent to move out of position and pinned to the back. 2) Repeatedly throw accurate kill shots first, to where your opponent is not. 3) Punish weak and/or poorly placed kill shots with brutal and accurate counter shots. 4) Punish weak throws that come right back to you with brutal and accurate kill shots. 5) Mix up your shot selection, to keep your opponent guessing.
I hope going forward, Nicolas continues to improve his offense by developing his use of the drop shot, 3-wall, as well as the outside and split placements so he can mix it up more and add them to his already good two-wall and inside placement shots.
You have the potential to be a monster singles player Nicolas!
Good Show Old Top!
While I am at it, I would also like to tip my hat to Benetrix, who had no lack of daring, effective play in his doubles matches. No Snoozy-Snore-Fest Games of Endless Catch™ with Benetrix in the front!
