In the mid 1980's there was an incident/disciplinary action at Dania that I'll never forget, and it was handed down by the players manager. He suspended Juaristi for a week for punting his helmet from about the 9 line to all the way up high on the front wall.
Juaristi was serving to Elola in a doubles game (I dont remember the backs) and Elola picked the serve and took a few steps and looked around and waited for Juaristi to commit inside and then snapped off a two-wall remate. Juaristi got pissed and took off his helmet and kicked it all the way to the front wall.
This was during a time when the holding/walking/travelling with the ball was still evolving. Just my opinion, but I think his helmet kick might have had something to do with Juaristi not getting his jersey retired like Joey and Arriaga.
During the early to mid 1980's Juaristi was the man at Dania, just like Joey was after him and then Arriaga. Juaristi deserved the same honor. Replies:
