I'm a big fan of "soft shell" jackets for everyday wear

Every outdoor brand makes them. They aren't WATERPROOF waterproof like a hard rain shell, but shed water well, are warm for the weight, and block wind well. I've worn an Eddie Bauer softshell as my go-to jacket for several years.

They do tend to be outdoorsy style, as opposed to urban stylish.

- Completely disagree and varies by style. Everything in Uniqlo is baggy style currently. I used to buy work pants from them and you can only get baggy straight leg or ankle length pants.
