Offense thought - plagiarizing my son (who studies the games) (m) Posted on October 30, 2025 at 11:28:20 AM by gvsublue
Michigan’s yards per play and EPA (Expected Points Added) are highest when they run their offense out of 11 personnel (3 receivers, 1 tight end). This difference is seen significantly in the run game where we average close to 10 yards a carry and our passing game is more dynamic. When you look at the film, there’s the obvious answer. It’s because defenses can’t stack the box. Our offense is actually really good out of 11 personnel (top 10 in nation). There’s just one issue, we rarely do it.
Lowest passer rating is when there are only 2 routes with heavy sets.
Again, we can beat worse teams with our identity (Grrrrr....), but the probability of beating good teams increases when you have more options and are less predictable.
