To be more than a conqueror Posted on November 6, 2025 at 00:41:52 AM by Nicodemus
Nico is patient. He waits in silence by Mizuki, on this fine morning, to learn her story. It was unknown to him just what hardships she has endured before arriving on Tinuvel and if was honest he already felt she has seen enough since her arrival. The loss of a child (or loved one) was the biggest blow one could feel. He should know as he has felt it many times.
In his opinion it made her strong to still be standing here today able to try her hoof at life again. It is the gentle sigh that leaves her that tells him she was ready. Mizuki adjusts herself and positions herself beside him. He wonders if this story she was about to tell was a hard one for her. Perhaps she didn't want him to clearly see her face as she speaks. Either way, he stays put with ears perked to listen.
Her story begins in a way that he wants to interject, but he does not. She obviously had much more depth to her than 'just another face'. Honestly no one was that to him. Each horse holds their own passions and memories. He didn't mind asking questions and exploring everything about his herd and his mares. "We are not whole," she says as their eyes meet. He doesn't understand exactly so he waits to hear more.
It soon became clear why she had seemed so frieghten at their first meeting. He was a strange stallion and she was used to being bullied into submission. Even as she looks away he could see the change in her eyes. For a guy, Nico was typically pretty good st reading emotions. Her grey body began to softly press into him which was a welcome comfort for them both. They may have shared an intimate moment back in the fall, but this was true intimacy. He loves his foals, but the simple touches made him feel closer to his herd.
Her story continues and he cannot help but think of Zohara. Was he doing the wrong thing sending her to the Hills? She had said she agreed, but maybe he should have let her go find her own way first. "Dirty," He cringes at the word. He could only assume what she meant, but he assumes he was right as her story continues. Shock widens his eyes when tears begin to roll off her cheeks. Her words squeeze his heart as she mentions the poor child she lost.
Mizuki looks at him again. She says she promises to love their child and that it would live. He prays to whatever god was out there that it does. "You didn't deserve that." He whispers the words at first, his throat tight with emotion. "You didn't deserve any of that." His muzzle reaches out to gently lick a tear from her cheek. "I have no doubts that you will love our baby." He smiles lightly, pulling his face back away. "If I had you wouldn’t be carrying my child so don't worry about any of that."
He sighs. "It is mearly fate that decides when we live or die. Some are taken much too soon and sometimes our lives are cut short by those with bad intentions. Our baby will have an adoring mother that will nurture and love it. One that is not 'dirty', but as pure as the snow that now falls." His eyes glance up at the lightly falling snow. Mizuki was no dirty mare. She was a pure hearted soul who was mistreated in her place of birth. The same would not happen to their child. Replies: There have been no replies.
