To be more than a conqueror Posted on November 18, 2025 at 02:35:53 PM by Nicodemus
Curious eyes study the smile on the mare's lips. He remembers the day he had first brought her to the Inlet and how she had said she understood the reason he had challenged for her. She had them surprised him by asking to stay longer than just a night to get to know her surroundings.
It was not exactly something he was used to hearing. He had to work his charm on Pyre to get her to stay. Rhoxane, too though she had left back to Salem. Instead the sooty dunalino has stayed without any more questions. She nods her head to him in greeting, he does the same back, as his ears lean in to catch her words.
She has a question for him? "Okay." He speaks softly as Dreamer licks her lips. She seems a bit nervous. He was curious to her question now paired with the hesitation. What could she possibly be nervous about? She soon unravels the mystery asking if she could become an official part of the Inlet.
He was surprised at this considering they haven't talked much since their initial conversation. He has allowed her to explore at her will. Even go back home if she wanted and she has not. Before he could speak again she explains her reasoning. Ah, well, her point about Lir was all about perspective.
"First let me explain that no one in my herd is considered baggage. Each individual is unique and important which is why I challenged Lir for you in the first place." The mare Lir took was not a mate of Nico's and honestly, he hadn't even known her. She had been a member of the Inlet, though, which made her his responsibility to keep safe.
"You are welcome to join my herd Dreamer. I will protect you as best as I can, but I also dont want you to have the wrong idea about Lir. Just in case you did have a liking for him." He pauses for a moment to adjust himself before continuing. "When I went to see if Citrus wanted to return I spoke with Lir. I let him know that you were free to come home if you like so he had no reason to fight for you back. He might be waiting for you to come back to the Prairie." It was important she understood all the facts before making her decision. He didn't want her finding out later and being upset with him. Replies:
