The young mare had scarcely gone more than a few steps when she heard.. something. Impera had paused to listen more carefully when the hillside to her left began shifting, its surface sliding in a stony cascade. Her brows lifted, mouth opening in a shocked expression. Rocks and soil tumbled to a stop before her. Not a one falling close enough to hurt her. To her surprise, a young male was swept down with the rubble and, in his scramble to stay upright, and spun to face her.
Impera's teal eyes flicked back up to find a hillside obscured by a cloud of dust. She couldn't tell if he had been on his own up there, but he sure didn't smell like he belonged here. He gaped at her, totally open-mouthed. "Um. Hi. . . That wasn't supposed to happen." She couldn't help but loose the smallest giggle. "You're telling me you weren't trying to impress me with those sick moves?"
"Bummer." Banter. Flirting. Whatever you wanted to call it, she had time to make it happen. Moreover, she needed it. Impera had been so angry and, worse, bored. Wandering Salem had gotten dull once the black splash tired of counting how many cacti she passed. She wondered if he was from here --'here' being Salem-- like she was. Impera hadn't had he opportunity to finish growing up here; so she wouldn't know if he was or not offhand. "I'm Impera," she informed him, humor glimmering in her eyes and features.
