Inlet

Seeing her brought something from deep inside of Nahawi. His chest ached seeing her beautiful form and his eyes grew glassy as tears rimmed the bottom of them. He could almost feel her warmth from the distance, but he knew it would not be much longer before he held her. Either he would go to her or she would come to him. No matter which way that went, the red dun was ready to explain what he could if need be while holding her tight to him if she allowed.

When he realized she was running towards him, the old stallion finally let the tears fall as a choked sound escaped his lungs. He shifted his weight however, making himself easier to hit as she came at him full speed. Lifting his head, Nahawi has enough time to suck in a breath before it wooshes out, his frame relaxing as she comes to him. As her warmth takes over his chest, the man lowers his head and tucks it tight to her neck, his own tears falling faster with her words.

“I am so sorry it took me this long, Zavi.” He whispers, his voice a choked sound on the wind as he holds her tight. His red frame softly trembles, everything in him wanting to just crumble to the ground. No more words left his lips though, his eyes closing as he lets his head rest against her neck, his long mane falling haphazardly over his neck on one side and mixing with her own mane. “I won't leave you again like that. I promise.”
