Mattheo is quite a bit older than Arsinoe (he's about 13 now) if that's what she's into lmao He's been hanging around Salem in the Desert and depending on how things go with Nyimara he may end up staying there. He's got a lot of facets to him, some which contradict others. He's usually quite polite, but he can be rude when he feels like he's been slighted or made fun of in some way. He doesn't shy away from telling the truth even if it's hurtful. He can take great joy in humiliating others, especially those he considers his foes (best example: his sister Marceline) but those tendencies don't really extend beyond those he genuinely thinks have personally affronted or harmed him in some way.
Being raised in a noble family he's quite courtly and knows how to use pretty words and promises to get what he wants, but doesn't usually follow through on said promises unless the horse in question actually means something to him, which is rare.
The land he came from viewed mares as second class citizens so honestly? He's pretty misogynistic 💀 For the most part he thinks of mares as pretty things to look at and make babies but that don't have much worth beyond their ability to reproduce, though since he came to the Islands his views have been challenged by the mares he's met so he's (very, very, very slowly) beginning to move away from those views but he'll probably always still be an ass to those of the opposite sex 😂 he's still baffled that mares are allowed to lead herds on their own and would likely make pointed remarks about it to Arsinoe in a not-so-friendly way. Maybe his jerkishness gets on her nerves, they start trading barbs, that turns to threatening flirting and one thing leads to another?
All in all he's cocky, confident, entitled, can be loyal to those he thinks deserve it and has a bit of a soft spot for his kids. I think underneath his asshole-ish exterior there's someone who craves finding genuine affection. He was in an arranged 'marriage' back home and had no say in who his mate was and was expected to stay faithful to her, which he did but he was very unfulfilled the whole time. Honestly it wasn't a very healthy relationship. His family also molded him to be the perfect heir and viewed any sort of emotional or physical weakness as the absolute worst thing that a stallion could ever display, so as he grew up he always made sure to project an aggressive, headstrong, emotionally unavailable personality to the world.
As stated he would try to be an involved dad but if Arsinoe told him to screw off he'd respect that - but being neighbors might make it difficult and I could see them running into each other, maybe butting heads, passive aggressively flirting 😂Despite being a huge jerk he would not be the type to force her to sleep with him, so that would be off the table. There's a lot of different directions he (and their relationship, in whatever capacity) could go, so if you wanna plot with him DM me <3
