I will always be disappointed Posted on December 5, 2025 at 02:44:15 AM by Caine
Caine hadn't been gone from Tinuvel very long. Barely more than a full season. But the restlessness he felt in the Lagoon was hard to cure. He wondered if it was home sickness? But going back to the Arch after he'd said his goodbyes made him feel like a failure. Even if he wasn't truly returning. He had chosen to be an adult, to move to the Lagoon and chose his own path. To be free, just like he'd told Titan.
As Caine drifted from the swamp to the beach, he looked across the icy water to the white speck of land that made up Tinuvel. He knew the winds would be raging. That the air would be biting and the food sparse. But he wanted to see it regardless.
Perhaps instead of the Arch he could go to one of the other territories. To scope them out for potential brothers or beautiful mares to raid. With this in mind, his decision was made and he slipped off into the frigid water and swamp for his birth land.
When he pulled himself ashore, he wasn't expecting to be nearly knocked down by the fierce wind. It seemed he had arrived just in time for a storm to roll in. Looking around, his eyes squinting against the snow, he realized he'd made it to the Inlet. Shelter wouldn't be too hard to find, but he also wouldn't be surprised if any of the residence were already there. He would just have to hope his apology to Uncle Nico was good enough.
Making his way further inland, he was grateful for the bit of reprieve the trees offered. But the ice that froze his mane and tail stiff also made his ear-tips sting. He needed to find shelter quickly before they fell off from frostbite. Caine was only distracted from his search when he spotted another up ahead. At first he thought it was a resident, but as he caught up, he quickly realized it wasn't. They had a summer coat, and not at all equipped for this weather.
"Quite the storm, isn't it?" He called above the wind to get her attention. "Care to cuddle, cactus flower? I'd hate for you to wilt in this weather." Replies:
