the cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears, or the sea

The stories that mother had told, of her parents own wild love, and her grandparents tightly bound romance were what pushed her to want to find it for herself within the islands. It seemed the islands were what brought that to her family. So why should she not want to join the islands and find her own whirlwind love? That was what drew her back the most. The rest? Mother had grown a bit…distant in her old age and then…well, to put it bluntly, her mother had lost her mind. Or her memory be that as it may. Kamala knew not who Camellia was anymore. To Kamala, Cami was a nobody. The others in the band of mares where they lived had taken over, giving Cami a gentle nudge out, because her distraught at her mother’s memory loss caused the elder mare to get distressed and the others didn’t want to deal with her distressing anymore. So, Cami was ushered out.

She heaved a sigh, shaking her head of the thoughts. She’d spent four years with her mother, longer than most in the band of ladies had allowed their children to stay. She must’ve been lucky for that. Until her luck had changed so drastically. Now here she was, trying to see if her luck would revert to allow her to get her own love story. Time would tell, right?

Her thoughts were broken by the sound of another, a snort, her eyes wide as she whipped her head towards the sound. Seeing another similar in size and look, merely black to her red, she tipped her head to the side as she watched him. Peculiar.

Hello!” She speaks softly but brightly. Yes, it may be the middle of the night, but she had no where near the fatigue her body was telling her she felt. Her muscles were weary from the swim, but her mind and heart had other ideas.

I’m afraid sleep won’t come to me for some time. I only arrived in the islands a little while ago, and while I may be sore from the distance, I feel rather…Invigorated. I’m sorry if I disturbed your rest, sir.” She dips her head as she ends her sentence, noting the way his eyes moved in the direction he’d come from. Maybe he was not alone. Maybe she’d interrupted things in her arrival to this spot.
