The praise that leaves Kara’s lips is enough to lighten the darkness that has threatened to overwhelm her. Between Natyre’s disappearance and Shenzi’s betrayal, it is hard not to feel the growing darkness as it claws tightly at her throat. Somehow, hearing the words that fall from the dappled gray mare’s lips has a way of grounding her in a way Nyimara did not expect. Even in the face of such adversity, there are still those who support her. There are still some who respect her and look to her wisdom for guidance and leadership. Regardless of how strong the tribulations that she must face, the witch Queen cannot give in to the raging storm.
”Thank you, Kara……” she begins, shifting her dark eyes to meet the azure ooids of her companion.
”I could not do it without your assistance.” She murmurs, blinking away the stinging pain that gathers as the image of Shenzi’s cold eyes flashes in her mind. As much as she hated to, she would have to find a way to brush aside the sands that kept that door in her soul open. With any luck, one day soon she could finally close it.Fluted dials twitch as Kara mentions Sigrdrifa. Instinctively, the chocolate mare’s dark ooids seek out the graying dunskin mare grazing among the loosely gathered herd. Hearing Kara’s confession that even Sigrdrifa was seeking to explore the other islands is both a blessing and a curse.A reluctant sigh escapes her ashen labrums as Nyimara turns her gaze back to Kara.
”What do you think we should do? Is she…. Mature enough to go off on her own?”Of course, Nyimara knew the girl was old enough to go off on her own. Hell, she stayed with them longer than most of the silver witch’s other children… however, that did not help the silver-haired mare’s anxiety and fear that, like Warduna, Sigrdrfifa would return pregnant with no prospects or drive for a future. But perhaps that was something the Queen needed to release the leash upon. She and Kara could only do so much to raise and train their children to meet expectations. What they chose to do after that was completely up to them… she could only hope they would prove to be… useful. With a reluctant sigh, she snorts,
”Maybe we start slow. Ask her to go find her little sister and do a bit of recruiting while she is at it. Perhaps the taste of freedom beyond the Desert borders will be enough for her.” she muses aloud.
