GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

August spoke and ac-ed casually enough, Lir noted as he observed the younger male. His head shook in some nonspecific gesture while relaying that he'd dealt with some issues on the border. Something dropped low in the sable paint's gut at this. Had it been another one of Zira's relatives? Not Nox. That wasn't whose scent clung to August's sweat-laced coat.

"All well with you? With the herd?" He was being cordial perhaps, but the shift made Lir want to abandon the conversation altogether. The Prairie lead had not exactly taken the time to fully inform August as to the tension with Savanna (and perhaps other territories as well) and what had happened. Lir would rather leave it that way for the time being since he hadn't figured out exactly how to rectify the situation.

His ears twisted back, betraying at least some his inner feelings even as Lir dismissed the questions. "Yes, yes, all fine." The words came out sharper than he intended. Yet Lir made no visible sign of apology as he might do normally. His gaze was distinctly averted from August as he squinted over the land east of their position. Lir felt like a hypocrite as he spoke.

"Just remember to keep your nose clean, August. We don't start fights in the Prairie."
