Re(7): Predicting Big Pools Tonight

I enjoy the challenge of Pick X bets at pari-mutuels. In September of 2009 my bro, father and I hit the only winning ticket on the Arlington Place Pick All for a very handsome payoff on closing day for $109,094 (there was $53k carryover on that) and also had 18 consolations where we had one incorrect winner. We spent $768 to hit that. There is an article online about that record Place Pick All payoff.

My partnership on the 1991 Breeder's Cup National Pick 7 ($2 bet) had one winning 6 of 7 ticket for $235,900. We spent $16k on that and had the only winning ticket in the state of Florida. One of my partners, J. Randy Gallo, got the early morning line odds in the UK for the races and we used that for ranking the horses in each of the 7-races and used a new software program my brother wrote for structuring the wagers (favorites were used more than longshots, as they should be). There were a number of bombs who won that year.

Always played multi-ticket wagers and a big fan of those type of bets and the coverage they provide. Love the Magic City Jai-5, a jackpot Pick 5, where you have to have the only winning ticket to get the jackpot. Generally I'm not a fan of Jackpot wagers where one has to be the only winner, but with smaller pools and less competition the Magic City bet is more like a standard Pick 5 wager.
