Standing still and not making herself even more of a threat, Asphara watched the duo quietly. Her womb softly clenched, begging for what this younger mare had. She should not be jealous, but she could not help the dark feeling that tried to take over. She missed her babies, even if she had lost all of them in one way or another. It was time she went and found them, but the chestnut was not ready to face that journey in her life. Instead, she would continue to roam and figure things out. This was just a pitstop in her wanderings.
Hearing the mare speak, Asphara gave all of her attention. Tilting her head softly, the purebred woman smiled lightly. “Never apologize.” A smile that was gentle in nature and kind in looks lined her face. “You are a mother. All you were doing was your natural instinct to protect the babe.” Asphara knew all too well those emotions that the mare had felt. She had enjoyed it at times when she had her own foals, but nowadays all of them are grown. At least, the ones that were still alive. She was a horrible mother if she were to think about it.
Flicking her tail, Asphara chuckled. “A strong babe is a good babe.” Shaking her head, the mare lowered her head to take a bite of grass right before the mare spoke. “Alpenglow.” She murmured, saying the other woman's name gently to make sure she remembered it. “I am Asphara. Thank you for letting me be this close. It has been a long time since I got to see one so young.” She had avoided the Forest lead and the few younglings created in the Forest. Maybe she shouldn't have, but she did not want the temptation to steal from her lead to rear its ugly head. “You and your babe look perfect, Alpenglow.”
