No guts, No glory
IT'S YOU! The vehemence with which this accusation was hurled at him jerked his attention toward the golden mare that was fast approaching him. Thankfully, she didn't seem mad, but he remained confused at her commentary as she approached, his pretty head tilting sideways an inch in question as she settled before him and began to speak.
"It is me," he said by way of greeting, a winning smile stealing across his face as the pretty girl singles him out.
Witche, she said, and he committed it to memory, beginning to bob his head in agreement until her next comment dimmed some of the light in him. The darkness is brief, a single raincloud passing through a meadow, not yet heavy enough to spill, but noticeable.
The Ruins were no longer his then. He wasn't a herd stallion anymore.
At least he was right about one thing: it was much easier to get bad news when you had pretty company. His dark ears tipped back and then flung forward again as he let go of the regret and sadness that might have otherwise soured his mood.
"I'm Theseus, but you can call me T like my friends do."
Friends, of course, that didn't really exist, but friends that he trusted
would have called him Theseus if he had ever truly been allowed to mingle with someone else his age.
"And I didn't really mean to leave. My sister died, and my dad needed someone to... I dunno," he hesitates, uncertain of the wording. As easily as he had dove into his personal business with a total stranger, he floundered at the end, having not untangled his own complicated feelings around the matter.
"He just needed someone for a while."
Theseus finished lamely and offered the equivalent of a shrug before he let his mind return to other, more exciting matters. A smile once more formed on his lips, and he tipped forward on his hooves, though he did not move closer. His eyes twinkled as he began to tease the pretty mare lightly, poking at her softly to figure out if she was interested or just wanted to understand his past.
"I was going to go home but since you've 'stolen' it from me, I guess I gotta find a new option, huh?"
