William Worthington, my great uncle, was born on 23 December 1890 in Salford, Lancashire and was a Lance Corporal in the Lancashire Fusiliers from 1914 until his discharge on 9 July 1919 when he was granted a disability pension related to trench fever. His service number was 280699 and his reference number on the Pension Record Ledger was 3/MW/No.1922. My cousin and I have been trying to determine when he died but, unfortunately for us, William Worthington was a very common name so it�s like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We know that he was still alive when the 1939 Register was taken. If the disability pension was for the rest of his life the Regiment would obviously have been informed when he died so we thought maybe the information would be available in official Regiment records. We would be very grateful for any information you can give us.
